The view as we top our road. The little tree in the picture is the one that is prominent in the base image of this website. At this point the fire is several miles away in Yorba Linda, blowing westward.

We are overlooking a bit of the Vellano housing tract on the opposite side of our ridge. We can pass thru this fence anytime. As much as we hated to have this development go in, if it hadn't been there, things could have been much worse.

This is looking down our road, Valley Springs. The grey house just to Scott's right is the Feikema's, directly across from them is Zeimas', and then the rest of the line down the road and around the corner is our place.

This is the view of the Feikema home above our upper corral level, next to the horse trailer.

This is one of the converted DC-10s used to drop Foschek, fire retardant.

That little oak tree was scorched on one side, but still there. That made us happy!

One of the super-scoopers is disappearing in the distance as the DC-10 with Foschek is making entrance.

The DC-10 is barely discernible in the smoke.

The flames have now topped a closer ridge to the south. Apparently the fire is now burning more northerly, but the smoke is still going west.

Fire glow lighting the belly of the smoke.

Monday noon, looking northwest.

The light angle isn't good. We still need to get our critters.

As you can see, Vellano had a lot of excitement also. Compare this image and the one following to the ones above, taken from the same vantage point, as indicated by the white fenced trail.

The ridges, as far as we can see, are black.

The Triangle-Complex Fire November 15, 2008

I was beating up the email accounts trying to structure emails to make pictures available to everyone, and then I had a flash of brilliance, put up a web page, stoopid...duh! I will update this page as we have more photos, and it may be interesting to document the recovery, etc.
